Belgian Wit - Coming in June!

Belgian Wit on Tap at all 3 locations in June.

Belgian Wit is an effervescent light wheat beer spiced with corriander and orange peel.  The grain bill also consisted of unmalted wheat, rye and oats in addition to malted white wheat and malted pilsner barley.  It is unfiltered so the yeast and wheat protein suspended create a haze making the beer appear white (wit in Flemish) which is where it got it's name.

A descendent of medieval beers which were not brewed with hops, but instead flavoured and preserved with a blend of spices and other plants referred to as gruit. These developed in the Flemish region of what is now Belgium. It therefore still uses gruit, although nowadays the gruit consists mainly of coriander and orange peel along with hops.

Watch for more historical facts on belgian wit when we tap it in June!
